The streets of London were turned
red, white and black last night as the city was kept
awake until the early hours of Monday morning by ecstatic
Egyptians. With no exception, every cafe and restaurant
on Edgware Road, West London, was packed to the rafters
with expectant Arabs watching the game. Once
the whistle was blown, the fans and EP's reporter amongst
them flooded the road and brought a taste of Egypt to
London.
The fans donning the red shirts of their
heroes stopped the capital's famous red buses from passing
as they danced in the roads. The density of fans brought
the city's police to divert traffic around the famous
Arab populated road. Fans took to the roof of Arab restaurants,
dancing and drumming whilst those on the ground chanted
songs of praise about their country's stars, waved flags
and blared patriotic songs from car stereos.
Even those who hadn't watched the game soon became absorbed
in the crowd of supporters and Londoners and Arabs of
all nationalities joined in hailing Egypt's unprecedented
achievement. Camera crews and journalists of the world's
press were present to capture the jubilant scenes but
not before EP's reporter interviewed some of the fans:

One Egyptian studying in London said:
"I can't express how happy I am at the moment and
the Egyptian team have pleased all us Egyptians abroad
and not to mention the 75 million in Egypt."
Another added: "No one thought it was possible,
but we did it. Hopefully after this tournament more
and more Egyptians will move to Europe".

It should be added that there are five of eleven Egyptians
picked in the team of the tournament, all of whom play in
the Egyptian league. Yet EP hopes this will be a step towards
more Egyptians moving to Europe.
Congratulations to all the players, management and fans of
Egypt.
