Egypt retained the ACN title
after a 1-0 win over Cameroon. All the hard work has
been done and now its time for celebrations. The Pharaohs
won the 6th title in the ACN history and Shehata lead
his brave men to this prestigious victory. The game
was a tough battle and Cameroon tried to defend but
a clever work by Zidan who stole the ball from Song
and laid it to Abo treka to score the precious winner
and win the ACN 2008 title.

Abtreka scored Egypt's winner after a superb assist
by Zidan
Egyptians made it again and won the Cup
of Nations for the second time in a row! The final was
a tough battle against Cameroon who couldn't match Egypt
and tried to defend and steal a goal but the goal came
in the other end and super sub Mohamed Zidan made an
excellent job to dispossess Song and lay the ball to
the completely free Abotreka who buried the ball home
to start incredible scenes of joy in all Egypt and Arab
countries.
As former Chelsea coach Maurinho predicted,
Cameroon tried to control the midfield area and didn't
allow Egypt to have much spaces in front of the penalty
area. On the toehr hand Maurinho expected Egypt to play
with the same formation and close down the opposition
with the strong three defenders at centre (Gomaa, Shady
and Hany Said).
Mauringho expected the final to be tight
and didn't expect many goals. He said before the match
that Cameroon will not repeat their mistakes in the
first match and as any final, it will not be the best
game to watch.
The game went exactly as the Portoguese
coach predicted as Otto Pfister played with a very cautious
style of play with a lone striker who is Samuel Eto'o.
On the other hand, Egypt started with
pressing from the start in order to get an early goal.
However, the Pharaohs couldn't take the lead in the
first half despite the many chances that Egypt got.
Emad Moteb went close in two real chances
but he failed to convert as his shots weren't well placed
and Kameni was able to parry. Abotreka as well, had
three attempts on goal, two of them went over and a
low shot was turned behind for a corner by Kameni.
The first half also witnessed a couple
of long range shots from Abd Rabo and Moawad but both
were well held by the Cameroonian goalkeeper.
Cameroon couldn't cause any real danger
on Hadary's goal apart from a shot which was held by
the Egyptian goalie.
