Reigning champions Egypt managed to defeat Sudan with three goals to nil. The first half ended in a 1-0 lead as Abd Rabo scored from the spot. In the 2nd half, the introduction of Abo Treka helped the Pharaohs to extend their lead as he scored a couple more goals to end the game in a 3-0 comfortable win.

Tha Pharaohs managed to defeat Sudan by three goals without reply. The performnce wasn't stellar but it got the job done for Egypt as Zambia will have to beat Egypt with unrealistically high score in order to stand a chance of qualification to quarter finals.

Sudan improved alot over their game against Zambia and looked dangerous in the opening minutes. On the other hand, Egypt had alot of troubles penetrating the solid Sudanese defense.

Egypt started the game with the same formation of the match against Cameroon but the plan was depending on more use of the wings. However, things didn't work as intended for the Pharaohs as Sudan defended with at least seven defenders which made the job quite hard for the Egyptians.

Because of the cautious Sudanese tactics, the first half was sleep inducing for many but Egypt got close in one occasion when Zidan made a speedy run into the box but he was dispossessed in the last second before shooting the ball.

In the 29th minute, Mohamed Shawky tried to shoot from way put but his shot was deflected and the ball went to Abd Rabo who tried to take it past the keeper but he was borught down and the referee awarded Egypt a penalty kick. Hosny converted the penaty kick after a second attempt as the referee asked for it to be retaken.

In the 2nd half, Egypt imrproved alittle but the chances remained a few. Zidan had the best attempt from a powerful shot but the goalkeeper turned it away for a corner.

Later, Shehata decided to bring on Ahmed Hassan and Abotreka at the expense of Fathalla and Zidan. The changes helped the Egyptians to extend their lead by two goals as Abo Treka scored twice in the 77th and 84th minutes respectively to make the score 3-0.

It should be noted that, Abo Treka got away with a yellow card after he showed his shirt with a "Sympathize with Gaza" message printed on it.

In the end, Egypt remained on top of the group and practically qualified to the quarter finals.
