Egypt are
in the driving seat in the group and simply outclassed
Cameroon in every aspect of the game. The Pharaohs won
by four goals to two after outplaying Cameroon. Mohamed
Zidan ran the show by scoring two classy goals for Egypt
while Hosny opened the score from the spot in the first
half. In the 2nd half, Eto'o clawed a goal back from
a header but Hosny scored from a powerful strike. In
the dying moments of the game, the referee awarded Cameroon
a penalty kick from which Eto'o scored the 2nd goal.
Man of the match Mohamed Zidan
The Pharaohs were able to tame the Lions
of Cameroon after achieving a resounding 4-2 win and
a stellar all round performance.
The classy performance will put Egypt
favorites to advance to the quarter finals. On the other
hand, Cameroon didn't live up to expectations in the
match and got simply outplayed by Egypt.
Egyptians did eclipse Cameroon who looked in a very
bad shape but much of the credit go to Hassan Shehata
and all the Egyptian players who closed the gaps in
defense, put Cameroon under pressure from the start
and used counter attacks superbly to take the lead by
two goals to nil in the first 20 minutes of the game.
Egypt started with pressure from the start
and players looked eager to go forward. Shawky tested
Kameni with a powerful low shot but the Cameroonian
keeper was able to hold onto it.
Zidan also had a golden chance in the
first minute of the game when Shawky laid the ball superbly
to him with one touch and the HSV forward advanced into
the box but he lost possession and the chance went begging.

facial injury
Minutes later, Hosny Abd Rabo received
the ball in the left side of the area after a cross
by Zidan from the right wing and tried to cross in front
of goal but the ball came off the arm of a Cameroonian
defender and the referee pointed to the spot. Abd Rabo
scored from the spot but the referee asked for the penalty
kick to be retaken and Hosni scored from the spot once
again to give Egypt the early lead.
Cameroon tried to push forward and get
back into the game fast but Zidan managed to cap a great
fast counter attacking move in the 17th minute to double
Egypt's lead. The goal came after a speedy run by Zizou
who played a one-two with Moteb, advanced into the box
and scored in the bottom corner to make the score 2-0.
Egypt continued to dominate and Cameroon
couldn't do anything because of the physical presence
of Shawky and Abd Rabo in the middle and the tight marking
on Iddressou and Eto'o.

Solid display by Shawky
In the stoppage time of the first half,
Zidan showed his class with a great strike which is
arguably the best goal in Ghana 2008 so far. The Egyptian
controlled the ball on his chest and powered a shot
with his left into the roof of the net from the edge
of the box to make the score 3-0 and let Cameroon have
a mountain to climb in the second half.
