The
Pharaohs acheived a comfortable win over Mauritania
by three goals to nil. Mohamed Zidan scored from a brilliant
strike to give Egypt the lead while Ghaly forced an
own goal to double the Pharaohs lead. In the 2nd half,
Ghaly added the 3rd to end the game in a 3-0 win.
Egypt didn't face any real challenge from
their opponents who were content to play the whole 90
minutes in their own half.
The Pharaohs could easily win the game
by 6-7 goals but the lack of concentration from Moteb
and the absence of a real target man didn't allow Egypt
to score more.
In absence of the two big men at front,
Mido and Amr Zaki who missed the match because of injuries,
Egypt started with Mohamed Zidan and Emad Moteb at front.
Gradually with time, Moteb became the lone striker at
front as Zidan played the role of a support man more
than as pure forward.
Egypt took the lead in the 20th minute
through Zidan who scored a brilliant goal from the edge
of the box when he sent a direct shot with his right
into the far corner to leave the goalkeeper with no
chance and to give Egypt the lead.
The 2nd goal came through an own goal
which was forced by diligent Hossam Ghaly who received
a long cross from Ahmed Hassan brilliantly on his chest,
Ghaly then tried to find Moteb with a low cross but
the Mauritanian last man sent the ball home while he
was trying to slide it behind for a corner.
In the first half, Zidan was arguably
the best Egyptian player on the field, he created numerous
chances for his teammates thanks to his elegant touches
and skillful movements. The 2nd best player was Hossam
Ghaly who always tried to go forward and rarely give
away a bad pass. On the other side, some Egyptian players
weren't at their best like Ahmed Hassan and Ahmed Fathi.
