The
game between Egypt and South Africa ended in a 1-0 win
for the Pharaohs who scored through Emad Moteb after
3 minutes from the kick off. Egypt dominated the first
half and had some real chances especially through the
diligent Amr Zaki. However, the 2nd half was quite poor
from both sides.
The Egyptian national team faced South
Africa in an international friendly. The match ended
in a 1-0 victory for the Pharaohs who played a fine
first half.
Shehata started with Moteb and Amr Zaki
at front as Mido still needed some rest while Zidan
wasn't available because of surgery. Behind the two
strikers Abo Treka played the role of the playmaker.
Egypt started with pressure from the kick
off and Abo Treka sent a clever chip pass to the onside
Moteb who sent the ball into the far corner to make
the score 1-0 for the Pharaohs.
The Egyptians continued to impress in
this half and created some chances on goal. However,
the score remained 1-0 till the half time whistle. The
best chances for Egypt were for Moteb who received a
pass from Ghaly and was left with a simple finish but
he put the ball over the bar. On the other hand, Amr
Zaki was one of the most active players in this half
and almost scored for Egypt from a shot from inside
the box but the goalkeeper denied his effort. In addition
to this, Zaki had a powerful hot on goal from way out
but it was denied by the goalkeeper as well.

The Pharaohs were content to defend their lead in the 2nd
half and so, South Africa had more possession. In addition
to this, Shehata made many substitutions to test the new faces
in the national team and to evaluate the performance of all
players. The changes affected the harmony between players
and the 2nd half was free from excitement.
