Egypt have moved up to 17th place in the FIFA World
Rankings.

More than just a cup
The last time Egypt were in the top 20
was back in 1998, and this 17th place equals Egypt's
highest ever ranking since the FIFA officialy started
the system in 1993.
Egypt made the second biggest jump up in the rankings
since last month, when we were in 32nd place. The only
bigger leap was that of African Nations Cup quarter
finalists Guinea.
This is a superb achievement after the poor run a few
years ago; in 2003 Egypt slipped into a record low of
44th place.
Egypt's ranking is 3rd in Africa, showing the improvement
of the continent which had no nation in the top 20 for
a while. Nigeria and Cameroon are ahead in 12th and
16th, yet all three nations won't be representing Africa
in the World Cup.
The Pharaohs are now the top Arab country in the rankings,
with Tunisia in second and Saudi Arabia in third.
