The dream is Over! Egypt lost to Libya by two goals to one and the home lead lead the group temporarily while Egypt remained with 7 points from four games!

Loyal fans will have to wait 4 more years to see Egypt in the World Cup!

Egypt played with only Amr Zaki as clear striker. Abo Treka often had to go to midfield to get the ball and the number of forwards in the Libyan penalty area was very little.

The Pharaohs started the game well in terms of ball possession. The chances were few though because of lack of 2nd striker beside Zaki.

Libya managed to take the lead after 31 minutes through Nader Kara who received a magical pass from the gifted midfielder Tarek El Taeb. Kara became one on one with the Egyptian keeper Nader and chipped the ball over him to give the home team the lead.

In the remaining 14 minutes of the first half, the Pharaohs intensified their pressure on the Libyan defense in order to score the equalizer before half time. However, the Egyptians failed to penetrate the opponents' defense and the score at the end of the first half was 1-0 for Libya.

In the half time break, Tardelli decided to give Tarek El Sayed a chance and the player did well by creating numerous chances for the Egyptians to equalize.

The equalizer came 6 minutes after the kick off of the 2nd half with thanks to the diligent Tarek El Sayed who crossed the ball from the left to find Zaki who slotted it home after making use of the confusion in the Libyan defense.

Egypt's best moments in the game were after scoring the equalizer. The Egyptians started to take control of the game and created real chances. The best of wish was for Abo Treka but he blasted the ball over the bar and the real chance went begging.

Tarek El Sayed also had a very close effort on goal when he sent a shot at goal but it was denied by the bar.

Just five minutes before the final whistle, Tarek El Taeb assisted the 2nd goal for Libya to grant them precious three points and to put them on top of the controversial group. He surged past the Egyptian defenders and laid the ball to Osman and the latter was left with a simple finish.
