WC 2006 QUALS: Libya vs Egypt

Date: 8-9-2004
Wrote: EP's reporter Ahmed Abo El Dahab

Egypt will end the first round of next World Cup qualifications with a game against the North Arican opponents, Libya.

Ghaly will return to selection

A win and nothing but win:

After losing precious five points in the home defeat against Ivory Coast and the away draw against Benin, Egypt need the three points to keep in the qualification race.

The Italian coach of the national team Marco Tarfdelli decided to start with his winning eleven who outplayed Cameroon last month. The only diffeence will be the return of Feyenoord player Hossam Ghaly to selection.

Tardelli added some new faces to the team but they will unlikely see action in today's game. They are Sherif Ikrami who replaced Essam El-Hadary and Mokawloon's striker Tamer Adel.

Who will stop El-Taeb?

It is clear that Libya's key player is Tarek El Taeb. Successful marking of the brilliant playmaker will be the keyword to success for the Pharaohs. El Taeb's marker is expected to be either Rami Adel or Islam El Shaer (who may replace Rami Adel in selection). Ahmed Fathi also may play a role in marking the Libyan key player as he already faced him in the Arabia Champions League.

Only four professionals abroad:

Egypt will kick off again without most of the professional players in Europe. The most important absentee is Mido. In addition to Hossam, Hany Saed, Ahmed Salah Hosney, Mohamed
Zidan, Ramadan Ragab, Mohamed Gouda, Ayman Abd El Aziz will also be missing.

Expected Line-ups:

EGYPT:

Nader El-Sayed, Islam El-Shater, Beshir El-Tabei, Wael Goma, Mohamed Abd El Wahab, Mohamed Shawky, Hosney Abd Rabo, Ahmed Fathy, Ahmed Hassan, Mohamed Abo Treka and Amr Zaki.

LIBYA:

Samir Abod, Abd Allah Al Amamey, Nage Shoshan, Sami El Kaeed, Osama El-Hamade, Tarek El Tayeb, Nader El Tarhone, Khaled Hussien, Younis El Shaybani, Nader Kara, Ahmed Saad.
