Just few days after defeating South Korea
in Seoul by a single goal, the Pharaohs achieved a big
margin win over Belgium.
Man of the match Emad Moteb
The Pharaohs had the upper hand in terms of scoring
and possession throughout the game. However, the Belgians
were dangerous during the first 40 minutes of play.
In 9th minute, the guests had a real chance to score
through Emile Mpenza who was totally unmarked in the
area and tried to head the ball home but he sent it
into the arms of Abdel Wahed instead.
In the 23rd min. The match referee disallowed a goal
for Belgium's Thomas Buffel. The replay revealed that
the player was onside and the goal was wrongly disallowed.
In the 39th minute, Egypt opened the scoring through
young forward Emad Moteb who latched the ball into the
back of the net after a scrappy header of Ahmed Eid.
Four minute after the kick off of the 2nd half, Emad
Moteb rifled a shot from the edge of the box at goal
but it was parried away by the goalkeeper.
A minute later, Moteb shined again as he scored from
a wonderfully executed bicycle kick to give the Pharaohs
a 2-0 lead.
The Egyptians continued dominating the game and added
the 3rd goal through Eid who scored after playing a
one-two pass at the edge of the box with Moteb. He then
dribbled past two players inside the box and sent the
ball home to make it 3-0 for Egypt.
Few minutes before the final whistle, the sub Osama
Hosny scored from inside the box after receiving a gift
pass from Abdel Halim Ali to make it 4-0 for the Pharaohs.
The Egyptian team did very well in the game overall
but the defending was somewhat dodgy in occasions.
