Date: 25-1-2004
Wrote: Zimbabwean sports writer Khumbulani Mpofu

EP SPECIAL: Sunday News newspaper in Zimbabwe exchanged surveys with EP regarding the coming game between the two nations. Here, Zimbabwean sports journalist K.Mpofu writes for EP about the latest from the country. Most fans are ready for a shock against Egypt.

Pre-game: View from Zimbabwe:

To Zimbabwe, it's going to be the biggest match in the history of our football. The mood is so electrifying and it's only a pity that most fans can't afford to be in Tunisia.

CONFIDENCE is clear! From Sunday News' survey, 86% think Zimbabwe will pull a shocker!

EP's poll meanwhile shows that less than 4% of visitors think that Zimbabwe will win.

In the street survey, optimistic fan Bekezela Sibanda was of the opinion that the Warriors will win 1-0. "I'm sure we will be able to beat the Egyptians," he comments. "Peter Ndlovu will score the solitary goal."

Another man asked, Dumisani Mabhena, said he believes the Warriors will beat the Pharaohs 2-1, and goals will come from Peter Ndlovu and his brother Adam.

So as the players in Tunisia prepare, the Zimbabweans sit on the edges of their seats, awaiting the biggest game for their nation yet.

One other interesting thing is that the electricity company, ZESA, has promised that there won't be any power cuts during the game!
