ACN squads named
Date: 16-1-2004
Wrote: EP's Zimbabwean journalist Khumbulani Mpofu
The countdown to the African Cup of Nations continues, and EP update you on the squads announced by Algeria, Cameroon and Zimbabwe. Also, EP's correspondent in Zimbabwe writes briefly about the troubles they are in as they prepare to face Egypt in less than two weeks time.

Latest from Zimbabwe:

Although EP were supposed to have been giving you updates on the proceedings in Zimbabwe, things that have been happening there have not been the most impressing. There have been a lot of friendly matches that were cancelled, postponed, and Zimbabwe even played against a fake El Salvadorian national team. Anyway, Sunday 'Mhofu' Marimo has named his 22 man squad which is captained by Peter Ndlovu of Sheffield Wednesday.

Ndlovu and his brother Adam, Agent Sawu and Wilfred Mugeyi are the only surviving players that played against Egypt in 1993.

The squad is as follows:

Adam Ndlovu, Alois Bunjira, Bekithemba Ndlovu, Charles Yohane, Dickson Choto, Esrom Nyandoro, Dazzy Kapenya, Energy Murambadoro (GK), George Mbwando, Harlington Shereni, Kaitano Tembo, Leo Kurauzvione, Ephraim Mazarura (GK), Dumisani
Mpofu, Lazarus Muhoni, Ronald Sibanda, Tapuwa Kapini (GK), Tinashe Nengomasha, Wilfred Mugeyi, Peter Ndlovu, Agent Sawu and Joel Luphahla.

There have been mixed reactions from the fans because there are a lot of other players that were expected to make it into the team however...
