According to some newspapers, Hassan will return to Egypt, most likely Zamalek, unless he gets an offer from Spain or England. He confirmed some of this in his interview.

When asked if he will continue at Besiktas, he responded: "In the last weeks all my mind was focused on the African Cup of Nations, but now I will start thinking about my future move. I will sit with my manager and decide.

"After the African Cup of Nations, there is interest from many clubs, but not anything concrete yet."

He added, "I wish to play in England and if I receive a good offer from a Premiership club, I will go there. because my wish is to play in this league."

When asked about returning to Egypt, the national team captain replied, "Everything is possible and it all depends on the offers that I will get at the end of season."

The versatile player is set to leave Besiktas and indeed Turkey, with his contract expiring in three months' time, yet this does not stop him from praising the Turkish giants. "They (Besiktas) kept calling me after every Egypt match to congratulate me and ask about me and my condition," he says.

"Winning Player of the Tournament is the first time I've won such a glorious award in the six African Nations Cups that I've participated in, and it has had a big impact on me," clarifies Hassan, who was chosen in the Team of the Tournament alongside three compatriots, namely Goalkeeper of the Tournament Essam El-Hadary, centre back Wael Gomaa and fellow midfielder Mohamed Abotreka.
