Borussia Dortmund and Switzerland's
international striker Alexander Frei will be out for
several months following his knee injury in the EURO
2008 opening match. Such loss of Dortmund's best forward
could mean that the club will be in search for a replacement.
This might help Egyptian striker Zidan who is currently
on top of Dortmund's shortlist.
Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan is currently
surrounded by troubles. The Egyptian has been banned
from representing Egypt for indifinite period. He also
has been sued by film producer of "Zamahlaweya"
film as the Egyptian didn't show up in location despite
agreeing to shoot some scenes in the movie. In addition
to this, Zidan could face a big penalty following his
interview with BT in which he attacked his former manager
Huub Stevens.
German press reported lately that the
Egyptian will have to move to Dortmund if he wants to
avoid further problems at Hamburg as the club officials
will likely fine him following his comments on Stevens.
Such a move will surely be the best for
Zidan at the time being as he will avoid further troubles
at Hamburg and it will also help him get back to his
top level as he will work again with Jurgen Klopp.
It should be noted that Dortmund already have Zizou on top
of their shortlist. However, they didn't approah HSV with
offer for Zidan yet.
The situation might change now as Dortmund's
best striker Alexander Frei suffered a torn knee ligaments
injury in the EURO 2008 opening match between Czech Republick
and Switzerland. Such injury will keep Frei out of action
for several months and Dortmund might have to look for a short
term replacement for the striker.
The answer could be Zidan. But will Dortmund
make an offer to transfer the Egyptian even on loan? Only
time will tell...
