Hamburg continued to disappoint as they
lost their important home clash with Schalke by a single
goal. Zidan started on bench and came on very late in
the game. The Egyptian failed to make any positive impact
as he barely got the ball. With this defeat. HSV failed
to reclaim 3rd spot in table and remained 4th.
Zidan's HSV failed to win a single match
in their last five league matches. They even lost at
home to Schalke by a single goal which came through
the German international Kevin Kuranyi who headed the
ball home in the 2nd minute of the game.
Zidan went back to bench after the return
of Van der Vaart and Olic to selection. The Egyptian
came on in the 79th minute and barely touched the ball.
The defeat kept Hamburg 4th while Schalke remained in
the 3rd spot in table.
After a nearly full season for Zidan with
Hamburg, it is obvious that the Egyptian should consider
moving to other team. Not only because he he doesn't
get enough play time at HSV, but mainly also due to
that the playing style of Zidan is not suitable for
HSV at all.
Hamburg doesn't rely on counter attacks
at all and so, Zizou's pace and dribbling skills are
not used. In addition to this, Zidan severely lacks
confidence when he plays for HSV. Zizou always appears
apologetic when he tries a dribble or tries to shoot
instead of passing. On the other side, his teammates
rarely try to pick him for their passes.
A player like Zidan, has the pace, vision and dribbling skills
should be given more creative freedom on the field in order
to take advantage of his flair and skills.
Soon, the season will come to a close and Hamburg
will unlikely play in Champions League if their form remained
declining. They will most likely play in UEFA cup and so,
Zidan should consider a move to a club that can show his real
potential.
