Mohamed Zidan and Mainz fought bravely against Werder and hold them to a draw in the first half. However, the homeside managed to score in the 2nd half through Vranjes and made the job difficult for Zidan and his teammates. Zidan played a very good first half and lacked support in the 2nd. Werder's 2nd goal came through Almeida who scored an easy goal from counter attack as all Mainz players including their keeper went forward to attack.

Mohamed Zidan faced his previous club Werder Bremen in an exciting away encounter on Sunday. Mainz proved that they are not much behind Werder and caused alot of problems for the home team.

The game started with pressure from the Werder side who almost scored from a shot by Diego but the post denied him.

The pressure continued from Werder till the 15th minute then Mainz started to look stronger and challenged the homeside with their counter attacks and long range shots which proved to be extremely dangerous.

Zidan, at this stage, played very well and took advantage of the spaces. He had a powerful shot at goal that was denied by the goalkeeper and also he laid the ball superbly to Andreasen but the latter shot wide from the edge of the box.

In the 2nd half, Bremen intensified their pressure on Mainz and created more chances, they also closed the gaps in their defense and so, Zidan couldn't find much space for him to cause danger.

The Egyptian also lacked support completely, he took good positions for his teammates and supported them well, but Mainz midfielders and forwards didn' provide Zidan with any good passes.

Werder managed to score their first goal through Vranjes who fired the ball into the bottom corner after a low pass from the right wing.

The match would end in a 1-0 win for Werder but Klopp asked all his players including the goalkeeper Wache to push forward and his plan almost worked as Werder goalkeeper made a great save in the stoppage time to deny a powerful shot from the right side of the area.

However, the goal came in the other end as Werder started a fast counter attack and the ball reached Diego who had no problems burying the ball into the empty net as Wache was busy trying to score for Mainz.
