British
newspaper the Gaurdian chose Amr Zaki as "Man of
the match" after his superb display against the
Blues. They mentioned that Zaki is a striker built for
the Premiership with his playstyle, strength and pace.
Amr Zaki is on the way of making a big name for himself
in the English Premiership. The striker showed some
eye catching performances in the preseason and in the
opening two matches in the Premier League despite Wigan's
defeat in both games.
Zaki was described a powerful forward by ShowSports
commentators who analyzed the match. Both commentators
agreed that Zaki is a good striker for the Premiership
and praised his ability to make runs at goal and test
Petr Cech twice in the first half.
Not only this, but The Guardian match report mentioned
that Zaki appeared completely active for the entire
match, and the fact he played in Sudan a few days earlier
did not show any effect at all. He was dubbed "outstanding
throughout" the game.
The player ratings saw just three players rated 8 out
of 10. They were the Egyptian, as well as Palacios and
Chelsea's new signing Deco. A few other players were
rated 7, while the rest were below this.
The man of the match award was given to Zaki, stating that
his finest moment of the game was "the slick turn away
from Jose Bosingwa tight at his back, as the game lurched
towards stoppage time."
Meanwhile, he was awarded man of the match with the following
description, and it flatters any Egyptian to see his name
so positively engraved amidst these stars! "The Egyptian
left John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho bruised and battered,
and bent Petr Cech's fingers twice with two first half attempts.
He appears made for this league."
Indeed, great credit to Zaki for not only adapting so well
and so quickly in one of the world's toughest leagues, but
making an impact in it too!
It should be noted that Wigan will play on Tuesday against
Notts County in the second round of Carling Cup. Zaki might
be rested in the game but there is a possibility that he plays
for some time.
