Mido came on to replace Alves and scored from excellent touch to double the lead for Boro in their tough home clash with star studdied Spurs. Shawky started for Boro in their home clash with Spurs while Mido remained on bench. Boro were the better side in the first half and even got the lead through a header by David Wheater. However, the referee ruled the goal out , but Wheater came again and scored the opening goal in the 71st minute while Mido came on in the last 10 minutes to score the second for Middlesborough. Spurs only goal came through Boro's defender Huth in his own net.

Shawky started the game as expected side by side with Gary O'Neil, Shawky defended very well and won most of the tackles he made also his passing was accurate and safe.

Shawky had two shots from ouside of the area, one in each half but both were far from the goal. However, his overall performance were good enough to keep him 90 minutes on the pitch to drive Boro to their first win of the season.

From the beginning of the 2nd half, Middlesborough fully dominated the game and they created many chances until Wheater came again in the 71st minute to score a goal from a fine cross by Downing which was deflected by Alves to hit the bar and come back to Wheater who put it in the net with no mistake.

Boro kept their pressure and domination after the goal, Spurs manager Juan de Ramos made a couple of changes taking both stars Lennon and Dos Santos out and let Bale and Berbatov come on in, but both couldn't add much.

The excitment and heat of the game went up as chances came to both sides, but Schwarzer successor at Boro made excellent saves and kept his net safe.

After the first substitution of Boro, the new french man Digard replaced Tuncay, Eight minutes later Mido came on as a replacement for the Brazilian Afonso Alves .

Only 4 minutes later Mido made it 2-0!!!! Boro went straight forward from that a throw-in pass, Digard shot from the edge of the area, and it was way off target, but close enough that Mido could stick out a leg and turn it home leaving Gomes with no chance.

Mido proved to everybody at the Riverside stadium and to Spurs what can he do as a massive quality striker with bags of talent.

After one minute of added time boro's defender Huth made a mistake while clearing a free-kick from Bentley and put the ball into his own net to end the exciting clash as 2-1 win for Middleborough .
