Relegation danger came back to threaten Mido and Shawky's side after their 3-2 away defeat against Sunderland. Boro almost ended the game in a 2-2 draw but a stoppage time goal meant their defeat and sent them down to th 15th spot in the table.

Boro still have two matches to play in the Premiership and they need to to win a match at least or draw in both matches in order to secure a spot in Premiership next season. Otherwise they will be relegated.

Shawky was once again a substitute. The Egyptian really could make a difference in these matches but Southgate still prefers to play Arca who is very poor defensively. The Egyptian midfielder was praised by all Boro fans who wanted to see him more on th field and not on the bench. However, Southgate preferred to keep Julio Arca happy at the expense of the Egyptian.

While the game ended in a defeat for Boro, they were the first to score as the Turkish international Tuncay scored from a one on one situation with the keeper. Tuncay controlled the ball well with a good first touch and smashed it low into the far corner with his left to give Boro the lead.

Immediately after the goal, Sunderland got a great chance to level the score but it came to nothing. A minute later, Higginbotham equalized and Boro got back to square one.

Things got even harder for Boro as they conceded the 2nd goal just before half time and the goalscorer this time was th striker Michael Chopra.

In the 2nd half, particularly in the 73rd minute, Afonso Alvez gave Boro a glimmer of hope as he controlled the ball inside the box and hit it low to strike the body of the goal keeper and go in to make the score 2-2.

In the stoppage time, Sunderland won a corner kick and the ball was swung into the box to find Murphy who headed the ball at goal, the ball came off the underside of the bar to hit Pogatetz and pass the line to give Sunderland a precious win.

Hopefully, Shawky will be given more play time in the remaining two matches which will decide if Boro will remain as a Premiership team or get relegated to Championship.
