Marco Tardelli made comments to the Egyptian press
following Egypt's impressive victory against Cameroon
in the qualifiers for World Cup 2006. In them he stated
that he will not be counting on Mido any more, and that
he has a young team with a fighting spirit capable of
winning matches. He also thanked the fans who supporting
the team with great passion to see them through the
difficult match
Italian coach, Marco Tardelli introduced
two new faces into Egypt's crucial game with Cameroon,
in Rami Adel and Amro Zaki, who both did very well in
the game. After the impressive victory against the Indomitable
Lions and the superb performance of the newcomers in
the Egyptian squad, Egypt's manager Marco Tardelli said
that he will not count on Mido anymore.
A delighted Tardelli spoke to Egyptian daily newspaper
Al-Gomhoreya After Egypt's victory over Cameroon.
"We deserved to win. The players were determined
to succeed, we needed this victory to keep in the race
for a World Cup 2006 ticket.

"I am impressed with the performance of my team.
We controlled the game most of the time, created many
goal scoring opportunities and scored three goals."
Regarding Egyptian star Mido, Tardelli said: "Mido
didn't join us in any of the four games that we have
played so far. I am not counting on him anymore. Any
coach in my situation would act similarly."
Regarding the two goals that Egypt conceded, Tardelli
said: "We must not think about these goals for
a long time. We have won the game and defeated Cameroon
which is the most important thing.
"I am optimistic now after defeating Cameroon.
We have a young team that is full of fighting spirit.
We can, with this spirit, beat any team in the group."
About the future, the managed added: "All future
games are important. The competition is tough but everything
is possible with good planning.
"I want to thank all the fans who stood by the
team. For those who criticised me before the game, I
have no comment".
