Five Minutes in Two Games for Said

Date: 5-10-2007
Wrote by: EP's reporter Islam Issa

Ibrahim Said made a return to the Turkish pitch after a change of manager.

After their avarage start, Ankaragucu hired a new manager who immediately recalled Said to the match squad.

While Heema was considering a new club, and may well still be, the manager chose to place him in attacking positions in the few minutes he played.

Said is thought to be ready to trial at Serie A strugglers Siena, but showed his versatility when he came on.

This week, the Egyptian only came on as a striker in stoppage time, in an attempt to get a point out of Bursaspor. However, the game ended in a 2-1 loss.

Last weekend Said had more of an impact. His side won 3-1 against Diyarbakirspor, continuing their unbeaten home run. Said came on as attacking midfielder in the 86th minute and had a massive chance to add another goal but missed.

A through ball was played to the right, as Said made a superb run in the centre, off the ball. The cross was made in to the charging Heema who managed to had no-one in front of him, but hit a side-foot volley with his left foot which went wide of the target.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the former Everton man.

Meanwhile, Abdelzaher El Saka was suspended for Konyaspor's last game, in which they beat Genclerbirligi OFTAS 1-0 thanks to a last gasp winner from former Besiktas striker Veysel.
