Dariusz Wdowczyk, born in 1962, has been confirmed as new coach of Legia Warsaw. He also took over the position of sports director.

Wdowczyk's main achievement as a coach was winning the Polish Championship with rivals Polonia Warsaw back in 2000.

Jacek Zielinski, who started this season as Legia head coach, is now his assistant.

In his first interviews, Wdowczyk explained that all players have an equal chance of impressing him and making it into the starting eleven.

The first competition game under the new coach Legia will be played on Saturday, against the underdogs of Polish Ekstraklasa, Odra Wodzislaw.

Wdowczyk, who represented Poland 53 times as a player, is known for his sympathy towards foreign players, which may be a new hope for Ghanem.
