Sherif's immediate selection as cover for Timmer was
a clear confirmation of his place as second-choice goalkeeper
at Feyenoord.
He was among the substitutes this week for the Rotterdam
derby against Sparta, whom Feyenoord managed to defeat
in a dramatic 3-2 win at De Kuip.
On Tuesday the young Egyptian will take his place on
the bench for the home encounter against high-flyers
PSV Eindhoven. It will be a massive game for Feyenoord,
who are currently in need of points to catch the UEFA
Cup, if not Champions League spots. With over half of
the season gone, they are among four clubs seriously
mounting a challenge for the 2nd and 3rd spots. PSV
are comfortably top having conceded a mere 6 goals in
18 games as well as scoring 50!

Aside from the Eredivisie, Feyenoord have Tottenham Hotspur
to think about in the UEFA Cup. Former Feyenoord midfielder
Hossam Ghaly , now at Spurs, is looking forward to the tie.
"It will be great to come back to Rotterdam, see my old
team-mates and play in front of the best fans in Holland again,"
he said.
"I only have good feelings about Feyenoord. I'm just
so pleased that I will soon be playing again at De Kuip and
in Rotterdam," he added.
