Egyptian goalie Sherif Ekramy started preseason preparations with his Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam a few days ago. The club played their first friendly match versus VV Katwijk and the match ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat for the Rotterdammers.

Feyenoord played the game with two teams, the first team played the first 45 minutes which witnessed VV Katwijk only goal in the 22nd minute. The second team played the final 45 minutes and Ekramy was amongst the 2nd half squad. The Egyptian didn't concede goals in the 45 minutes that he played which witnessed improvement in Feyenoord's play.

Aside from preparation news, Feyenoord decided to sign another experienced goalkeeper from AZ. The 34 year old goalkeeper Henk Timmers was a former Feyenoord player and a current member of the Dutch national team.

The arrival of Timmers means that Ekramy's chance to be the main goalkeeper of Feyenoord will be delayed as Timmers and the veteran 39 goalkeeper Lodewijks will likely be the first and second choice for the goalkeeper spot.

On the other side, Feyenoord will likely keep Ekramy and let the substitute goalkeeper Michael Aerts go.

It should be noted that Sherif was the 3rd choice goalkeeper in the previous season but poor performances from Aerts helped the Egyptian to be the 2nd goalie. Ekrami would be the 2nd shot stopper in the coming season but it seems that Erwin Koeman wanted a more experienced goalie to occupy the spot.

Feyenoord:

First half: Lodewijks; Collen, Vlaar, Altheer, Drenthe; Hofs, Abubakari, Lucius; De Ceulaer; Van Hooijdonk, Huysegems.

Second half: Ekramy; Greene, Derijck, Bahia, Mtiliga; Sammuel, De Guzman, Davids; Castelen (85? Biseswar), Boussaboun, Kolkka.
