In the absence of the main goalkeeper Patrick Lodewijks
and the 2nd shot stopped Aerts, Sherif Ekramy played
his first full match for Feyenoord. The game was a tough
away clash against Heerenveen.
In the first half, Feyenoord were the better side and
created more goalscoring opportunities. Salomon Kalou
had a couple of chances from a one on one situations
with the goalkeeper but his first attempt was held while
the 2nd was denied by the foot of the post.
On the other side, Heerenveen's attack didn't test
Ekramy much except in the final minutes of the first
half where the Egyptian made a brave dive to collect
the ball at the feet of an oncoming Heerenveen striker
who was about to score from inside the box.
Ekramy also almost created a goal for Feyenoord when
he played a long ball to the striker Dirk Kuyt who faced
the keeper and chipped the ball over him but his attempt
went just wide.

Early on in the 2nd half, particularly in the 49th minute,
Heerenveen managed to take the lead against the run of play.
The goal through a defensive error from Feyenoord side as
the defense couldn't clear the ball before reaching arvajarvi
who faced Ekramy and played the ball powerfully low and away
from the Egyptian's reach to make the score 1-0 for the homeside.
After the goal, Feyenoord's coach Erwin Koeman introduced
the veteran forward Pierre Van Hoojdonk who made the difference
and levelled the score for the guests in the 78th minute after
a superb co-work with Dirk Kuyt.
As the score became 1-1, Heerenveen got a real chance near
the final whistle but Ekramy excelled and prevented the real
goal. The chance came through a one on one situation with
Ekramy but the Egyptian made a stretch and saved the ball
with his foot for a corner.
