Caykur Rizespor's centre back Beshir El Tabei has revealed
that he himself opted to pull out of the national team
squad for the African Cup of Nations due to personal
problems.
The Egyptian denied newspaper gossip that he was leaving
the team camps and not abiding in training. He has no
idea where these claims came from.
"I myself pulled out of the national team due
to the personal problems that I have," said El
Tabei to the ESC.
"I sat down with the national tam staff and told
them that I don't feel I can perform in the African
Nations because I have other things on my mind.
"I have personal issues and I don't want to play
if I won't perform to my full with the national team."

He added that he is perfectly happy to be a substitute
for Egypt and that this would be the staff's decision completely,
"It is not related to me not being used against Uganda.
I am like a soldier, and if I am told to sit (on the bench)
I sit, to play I play."
The defender stressed that the issue of him leaving has nothing
to do with him being dismissed, but that he is trying to be
as honest and professional as possible.
Such truths bring relief to fans that the national team camp
isn't in complete chaos, and that Beshir is a true professional
who feels a responsibility. Many players would play despite
not being ready, but Beshir knows that when representing your
country you must be 100% prepared.
EgyptianPlayers.com feels that such professionalism and honesty
deserves special commendation, and differs completely to the
excuses of certain others in regard to presenting Egypt.
