Beshir's Rize keen on European qualification...

Date: 15-11-2004
Wrote: EP's reporter in Turkey Fatih Ozkan

LAST WEEKEND: One of the least goal conceding teams, Caykur Rizespor, ended another ninety minutes without seeing any goals in their net. Eventually, they scored one goal in each half and clinched their good position in the table.

Beshir El Tabei didn't start the game, quite possibly after recent talks with Zamalek, but he came on in the second half. This is while Ahmed Salah Hosny did not see action, and whether he will continue at the Turkish club is not known.

First Half:

In the second minute, Rize's Serkan used the flank and then crossed from the left edge of the area, Zafer shot the ball on the goal but it went out.

In the eleventh minute, Fahri was knocked down on the floor and Rizespor were given a free-kick. Zafer gave it short to Kursat and Kursat shot in low fiercely. He found the net past Diallo: 1-0.

In the minute 25, Rize almost got another as Gurol crossed the ball from the right to Murat Sozkesen whose header hit the post and then went for a corner

The domination continued, and not long later, Zafer whipped the corner into the area but Ahmet it over the bar

The first half ended with several opportunities from the hosts. The visitors were too weak even to see the ball go anywhere between the framework.

Second Half:

In the minute fifty-five, Murat Sozkesen crossed the ball from the right and Unal headed the ball to Okan who saw the ball flying over the bar.

Four minutes later, Zafer whipped the corner into the area and Diallo fumbled it and then let the ball dropped to Okan. Okan sent the ball towards the keeperless goal but the defenders cleared off the line and Murat Sozkesen shot the bouncing ball but at last the ball went away.

On the counter attack of the previous Rizespor opportunity, Burak shot the ball well outside the area but Zdravkov was keen to deflect the ball for a corner.

At this stage, the Egyptian centre back Beshir El Tabei replaced the performing striker Murat Sozkesen, in a defensive move by the coach.

In the minute sixty-eight, Zafer crossed the ball to Okan who headed short to Fahri, and the latter shot fiercely finding the closing goal of the game: 2-0, and a convincing win.
