Amir Fined For Late Return

Date: 22-8-2005
Wrote: EP's reporter in Greece Christos Dimitriades

Amir Azmy joined the list of Egyptians late for their clubs' preparations.

The bad news from PAOK, after the fine win against AEK, was that Amir Azmy was fined today (Sunday), after being late to return from his duties with the national team of Egypt.

The Egyptian player took a day off, without informing somebody in the PAOK managerial team, and he was called to apologise when he returned in Thessaloniki.

The board said that it was not such a big deal but the Egyptian youngster should inform next time that he will be late. PAOK chairman and the rest of board fear that they will have problems with the player's returning days every time he has to leave on national team duty, and decided to place a small fine of €3000 stating that they will not tolerate such behaviour again.

Problems with Cameroonian midfielder Feutchine are still in their recent memory, and they do not wish to lose such a talented player for more time than is agreed with the Egyptian Association.
