In Summer, Amir Azmy was on the verge of joining Beshir Rizespor but Zamalek decided to halt his transfer. However, in the winter break and in another twist of fate, he signed for PAOK and left a very good impression there.

Lat Summer, Turkish Super League side Rizespor made a bid to sign both Zamalek centre backs Amir Azmy Megahed and Beshir El Tabei. The latter was signed by Rize but Zamalek decided to keep Amir after the departure of Beshir.

Despite this, the chance came again as PAOK offered to sign the Zamalek defender together with his teammate Shikabala in a deal worth 400.000 EUROs for both players. Soon, Amir became a PAOK player and started his European career right after the winter break.

Surprisingly, Amir didn't take much time to adapt in Greece and instead, he impressed PAOK fans with his quality defending and vision. The Egyptian participated in almost all matches that PAOK played in the 2nd half of the season. He helped in attack by assisting two goals and also was impressive in his main role as defender.

Although, Amir Azmy played in almost match for PAOK since he signed for the club, he never completed a single match. This is due to his lack of physical fitness.

Amir caught the eyes of some European clubs during his brief stay in Europe and he will definetely improve as he will be involved in an intensive preseason preparations with PAOK with the start of July. His fitness levels should reach the proper level that will enable him to perform consistently for the whole ninety minutes.

PAOK fans have big hopes in their new signings, Amir and Shikabala and hopefully both players will live up to the expectations and improve PAOK's rankings in the coming season.

Amir is expected to be called for the Egyptian national team after the match against Ivory Coast. The young Egyptian defender will be a nice addition to the somewhat aging and underperforming Egyptian defense.
