It may not have been the dream start for Amir Azmy
at Thessaloniki, because of the defeat in a local derby
between his new team P.A.O.K. and Iraklis, but his elements
of pure talent and strong potential were obvious.
Amir Azmy was positive, making the 4.000 P.A.O.K. fans
that travelled to "Kaftantzogleio" optimistic
about his future at the club.
Half an hour after the referee's first whistle, Amir
Azmy fired a free kick with extreme power towards the
Iraklis goal, but unfortunately the ball didn't hit
the net. Several times, though, his determined tackling
helped his team keep the nills till half time.
In the second half, referee Spyropoulos changed the
match into a personal issue. Iraklis scored with a goal
that not only frustrated PAOK, but was accepted with
fury because of offside claims. Ten minutes later, an
unfairly not given corner for PAOK caused
the entering of some fans onto the pitch, that went
back to their seats after the stadium security efforts.
Later on, the ref had the last word with something
that we rarely see in European football. Iraklis player
Kapetanos firstly hit the ball with his arm, and then
blocked it down like a goalkeeper. Referee Spyropoulos
saw nothing, while a whole stadium and eleven players
shouted and waved repeatedly.

Later on, PAOK F.C. issued a statement asking Spyropoulos'
removal from the referee tables of Greek football.
Amir Azmy played till the 83rd minute, when he was replaced
by Lukas Karadimos for tactical reasons.
