After EgyptianPlayers.com's previous news reached the English press, the News Shopper newspaper spoke to the former Sheffield United manager. He said that Abou-Mosalem has been good while on trial, and that he is keen on Egyptian players from his experiences with Ahmed Fathi.

Warnock said about Abou-Mosalem: "He has been in and done quite well and is a bright lad."

He added: "I had a player called Fahti up at Sheffield United. They are really very alert players, the Egyptians, and technically very good."

Palace have contacted the player's agent but are still in the process of weighing up their options as well as financial issues. "I've spoken to his man to talk about the possibilities, because there aren't many good left sided players at the minute, but he is a possibility.

"Obviously Strasbourg will want a transfer fee for him, but we will look into that."
