This Friday evening in Meinau, Strasbourg did not gain
three points against Ajaccio, but they managed to advance
away from rivals Le Havre and stay in 3rd place.
Abou Mosallem has found his way back
into selection...
The men of Jean-Pierre Papin were held to a draw on
their own venue after missing a penalty. But, at the
same time, Le Havre were beaten at Gueugnon. Strasbourg
are now seven points ahead of the 4th placed side with
ten match-days remaining.
Egyptian Shines Despite Lost Points:
Abou Mosallem played the full game with a solid performance
on the left-hand side of the defence, and appeared many
times in the game's main chances.
Beaten in Gueugnon, Le Havre suffered their third consecutive
defeat, though they will find themselves lucky not to
be nine points behind Strasbourg, had Abou Mosallem's
side won.
Metz, the leaders, drew goal-less with Niort, and second-placed
Caen were held to a draw by Guingamp. A win would have put
Strasbourg on equal points to Caen, but they are very much
leaders in the promotion race nonetheless, as three clubs
are automatically promoted in ten match-days' time.
