Strasbourg's relegation was
confirmed by their 3-1 home defeat at the hands on Nancy
today. Despite taking the lead through Diane, a hat-trick
from Kroupi sent Abd Rabo and Abo Mosallam's side to
the 2nd division.
There are two games left in the calender for the French
league championship. However, this will not make a difference
for Strasbourg as they became 10 points away from Troyes
and totally lost their hopes in escaping relegation.
Before today's match, Strasbourg were seven points
away from Troyes and so, they had a glimmer of hope
that Troyes lose all their remaining games and Strasbourg
win 9 points from the remaining matches which seemed
to be too difficult to be accomplished.
Today, it was another disappointment for the Egyptians
at Strasbourg as their side lost at home to Nancy by
three goals to one. On the other side, Troyes claimed
a 3-1 home win over Toulouse which was enough to confirm
the relegation of Strasbourg alongside Ajaccio and Metz
to the 2nd division.
Egyptian left back Abo Mosallam started in today's
game but soon after the 2nd goal of Nancy in the 25th
minute. Abo Mosallam was replaced by the Ivorian Boka
and the latter couldn't prevent his side from conceding
a third goal in the 32nd minute which came through via
a penalty kick.
On the other hand, Hosni Abd Rabo was in the bench at the
start of the game and came on in the 69th minute to replace
Johansen.
The fate of the Egyptians now is still unclear after Strasbourg's
relegation. Egyptian midfielder Hosni declared before that
will will move to another club while on the contrary, Abo
Mosallam announced that he will be content to stay at the
club in case of their relegation.
