For the 31st match-day of the French championship Strasbourg went to Saint-Etienne in the mythical stadium of Geoffroy-Guichard: “ The Cauldron."

Strasbourg were 18th before this game whereas St-Etienne were 13th and still in the race for the European places. In the event of a victory Strasbourg could be 3 points away from the first none-relegating side Troyes.

Our two Egyptians Hosni and Abo Mosallam were both in the starting team and performed well.

The first period was exciting but without goals. In the 62nd minute though, after a beautiful opening for the Swedish Alex Farnerud, he found Diane who managed to trick the St-Etienne goalkeeper and put the ball into the net from an angle. The Ivorian player is the top scorer of the team this season with 7 goals in the championship.

In the 77th minute, after a central pass played by Abdessadki, Alex Farnerud's brother, Pontus, went on a run and forced a parry from keeper Janot. Farnerud followed the ball and pushed it into the net.

Abo Mosallam and Hosni played the full game and added to a good quality match in the brilliant defensive plan of Strasbourg. They showed their technical quality in stopping attacks.

It was a very good game for Abo and Hosni who are just 3 points behind Troyes They have reacted well after their elimination from the UEFA Cup.

There are only 7 matches left for them to survive and the end of the championship will be enthralling.

We wish a happy end for Strasbourg and the Egyptians. They will have to perform and continue the good performances if they want to save their team!

Each match is now worth more than ever. The next match is at home against Lille who are currently 3rd and who play for the 2nd place which directly qualifies them for the Champions League.

As hard as it may sound, there is belief in Strasbourg and particularly in the Egyptians...
