Abo Mosallam was chosen
amongst the best eleven players in the French league
in the last week after his impressive displays with
Strasbourg. The Egyptian also played a full match versus
Rennes this weekend but the game ended in a 2-1 loss
for Abo Mosallam's side.
Egyptian left back Ahmed Abo Mosallam proved to be
a good signing for the struggling French side Strasbourg
as the Egyptian helped his new club to improve their
form on the domestic level and to revive their hopes
in escaping relegation.
Abo Mosallam, who is known as "Abou" in France
secured a place for himself in the starting eleven of
Strasbourg and forced the coach to keep the Ivorian
international Boka on the bench instead.
Not only this, but surprisingly, the Egyptian was named
by Eurosport amongst the "Team of the Week"
after his impressive match versus Troyes in the last
week.
However, last Sunday wasn't a happy day for Strasbourg
as they lost to the midtable club Rennes by two goals
to one. Strasbourg were better in the first half but
they couldn't create goalscoring opportunities and the
first 45 minutes ended in a 0-0 score.
The 2nd half witnesses all the match goals as the Swedish
attacking midfielder Kim Källström opened the scoring
for Rennes in the 62nd minute. Four minutes later, Briand
doubled the score for the homeside.
Strasbourg's only goal came in the 79th minute through Kante
and the game ended in a 2-1 defeat which kept Strasbourg five
points behind Troyes.
