Another good display from Abou Mosallam
Strasbourg achieved an important win in UEFA Cup over
Litex a few days ago and today, they achieved an impressive
away win over Toulouse by two goals to one.
Egyptian left back Abo Mosallam played from the start
and remained on the pitch till the final whistle. He
played a fine game on both the defensive and offensive
sides.
Strasbourg took the lead early on as Farnerud scored
in the 5th minute from a powerful shot from the edge
of the box.
The guests were generally the better side on the field
thanks to Farnerud and the talented forward Diane.
Abo Mosallam was solid in the left flank and he helped
in attacks. He even got a chance to double Strasbourg's
lead when he made a good run into penalty area and received
a pass which make him face to face with the keeper,
Abo Mosallam then used his skill to take the ball past
the goalkeeper and tried to bury the ball with his right
foot, but a defender blocked Abo Mosallam's shot and
denied him from scoring his first ever goal for his
new French side.
Near the end of this half, Farnerud blasted a shot
from the edge of the box which hit the underside of
the bar and bounced back to play to find Diane who tried
to bury it home but he sent the ball wide and the golden
chance went begging.

In the 2nd half, Strasbourg continued to impress and used
the counter attacks effectively. In the 61st minute and from
one of these counter attacks, Diane used his skill to dribble
into the box and to win a penalty kick as he was brought down
by a Toulouse defender. The referee pointed to the spot with
no hesitation and Abdessadki smashed the ball home into the
bottom corner to double Strasbourg's lead.
After the 2nd goal, Toulouse started to look more dangerous
on goal. Abo Mosallam proved his worth this time on defense
as he cleared the ball off the line with his head to prevent
a real goal but Toulouse showed more determination to come
back into the game.
In the 76th minute, Toulouse' captain Daniel Moriera scored
their only goal when he volleyed the ball home from the close
range after a well organized attack for the homeside.
The final minutes witnessed dangerous attempts from both
sides but the score remained 1-2 till the referee blew the
final whistle.
Despite the win, Strasbourg still need a miracle to avoid
relegation as they are currently 19th with only 17 points
and 10 points away from the closest team in the non-relegation
zone.
