Stalemate Again For Hosny's Strasbourg

Date: 22-9-2005
Wrote by: EP's reporter in France Samy Shoker

For the 8th match-day of the championship Strasbourg played away against Ajaccio who were 10th.

In spite of their current classification , Strasbourg were favourites for this game. Before this match, Strasbourg were 19th and so in the relegation zone, so a victory was nothing less than a practical requirement.

Hosny was not in the team because of his sending off against Paris SG, and he will be absent against Toulouse too.

It was a match dominated by Ac Ajaccio, the first period in particular, thanks to the Algerian international Rafik Saïfi, who was a poison for Strasbourg’s defenders Karim Haggui and Cedric Kanté.

Strasbourg were not really dangerous in these first 45 minutes.

On the other hand, the second period was totally in the advantage of Hosny’s partners. They played good football with a lot of attempts on goal. In the 70th minute, Pagis, the striker of the team missed a wonderful attempt just near the right post.

The final result was a disappointing 0-0.

Strasbourg stay 19th with only 5 points. The situation is becoming critical for the team and the coach Jacky Dugueperroux.

Last year Strasbourg had counted the same number of points as this season after 7 days of the championship. The Strasbourgeois trainer Kambouaré had been replaced then.

Strasbourg must react immediately or it will be relegation into the 2nd division!

The next match is at home against Toulouse who are currently 17th. They must have a great performance this Saturday.

Hosny will come back against Troyes. EgyptianPlayers.com hope for a victory for his team before his come back...
