Impressive Debut for Hosni in France

Date: 29-8-2005

Hosni 'French-kissed the beautiful Le-Championnat', as he became the only Pharaoh in the league, debuting for Strasbourg.

The French top flight welcomed yet another Egyptian when Ismailia's golden boy Hosni Abd Rabo made his debut; the 22 year old Egyptian international was introduced to eager racing club de Strasburg "RSC" fans in the home game versus Bordeaux.

The game was a close encounter that ended in a goalless draw. Hosni walked out of the tunnel wearing number 8 and his was name written as "Hosni" with literally the whole stadium giving him a welcome to remember.

RSC didn’t have the best of starts this season and Hosni’s contribution was clearly needed as RSC lacked the player in the midfield who can orchestrate things and can act as an anchorman for the troubled coach Jacky Dugueperroux.

Hosni played the entire match from the beginning and showed why RSC where fighting tooth and nail to use him as soon as possible.

He even came close to scoring half way through the first 45 minutes with a powerful long range effort, which got the best of Bordeaux‘s shot-stopper Rame.

The club’s official website was a bit conservative when commenting. "He showed some of his qualities, he ran a lot and was always present especially in the first half. After the break he shifted his gears down a bit. Overall his debut was encouraging."

Other media sources actually praised the young Egyptian. "The Egyptian made his big debut as the midfield keeper," said football365.

"Hosni claimed his starting place," hinted Wanadoo after just one game!

The game left RSC in a tough 17th spot while Bordeaux seemed content advancing to 3rd place. Hosni and co. still have lots of work to do if they are to improve their abysmal league position, because after 5 league days they could only bag 3 points.

Line-up: Cassard, Lacour, Haggi, Kante, Boka, Johansen, Hosny, Keita, Farnerud (Le Pen 65) Pagis, Gmamadia (Arrache 77)

EgyptianPlayers.com wishes Hosni the best of luck in his new adventure and will keep you updated with his latest news as it happens...
