EgyptianPlayers.com look into the ambitions
of the only French club possessing an international
Egyptian footballer. To add to this, a review of the
first two games of Ligue 1.

Strasbourg is a sizeable team in France. Last year
they won the Ligue Cup, and thats why they are
qualified for the UEFA Cup. The objectives of the club
are to achieve good performances in the UEFA cup and
to end in the first 10 teams of the championship.
After two matchdays of the championship, Strasbourg
are currently 15th. The first game was a draw against
Auxerre, the outsiders of this league. Strasbourg dominated
this confrontation but Auxerres defence resisted.
Final result: 0-0.
The second game was against the champions and holders
of the title and big favourites Lyon. Strasbourg gave
good impressions with beautiful actions, with particular
thanks to Amara Diané. But in the 28th minute,
after an error from Haggui and intelligent use of his
height the giant John Carew (who played with Ahmed Hassan
at Besiktas and who was transferred this season) scored
and allowed his team to win 1-0. The coach Jacky Dugueperroux
was nevertheless satisfied with his players. He has
faith for the future...
