Abd-Rabboh's New Club: Strasbourg

EgyptianPlayers.com look into the ambitions of the only French club possessing an international Egyptian footballer. To add to this, a review of the first two games of Ligue 1.


Strasbourg is a sizeable team in France. Last year they won the Ligue Cup, and that’s why they are qualified for the UEFA Cup. The objectives of the club are to achieve good performances in the UEFA cup and to end in the first 10 teams of the championship.

After two matchdays of the championship, Strasbourg are currently 15th. The first game was a draw against Auxerre, the outsiders of this league. Strasbourg dominated this confrontation but Auxerre’s defence resisted. Final result: 0-0.

The second game was against the champions and holders of the title and big favourites Lyon. Strasbourg gave good impressions with beautiful actions, with particular thanks to Amara Diané. But in the 28th minute, after an error from Haggui and intelligent use of his height the giant John Carew (who played with Ahmed Hassan at Besiktas and who was transferred this season) scored and allowed his team to win 1-0. The coach Jacky Dugueperroux was nevertheless satisfied with his players. He has faith for the future...


The next match is on the 14th of August against Monaco at “ le Stade de la Meinau” and we hope to see Hosny in the team!..
